heartbeats; teardrop

On a night when Psapp tossed tiny plastic cats into the audience and Juana Molina managed to sonorously bark like a dog, Jose Gonzalez nearly morphed into his guitar. Hunched almost like Linus at his piano, Gonzalez seemed to be presenting his excellent guitar playing to the audience, putting the instrument as front and center as possible while he ducked into it, raising his head only to sing into the microphone. A few selections from his Veneer, a few covers from The Knife and Massive Attack (!), and the whole of the audience felt only their backs in the seats, could only see and hear the voice and guitar, and nothing else.
