ode to my lunch

Oh, creamy Teddie peanut butter on a toasted bagel with banana, thank you for breaking up the monotony of my day. From the first bite — slightly crunchy on the outside, soft and gooey the rest of the way — you had me, and with a carton of milk by my side, I am at once Jimmy Carter in the Oval Office and 9-year-old me seated at the old kitchen counter. I am simultaneously dining with kings and thinking of bikes, Barbies, and band-aids. I chew, and the world melts away, until — poof — my delicious mid-day meal is gone.
