Shark, New England Aquarium

Tourists snapped a thousand pictures with point-and-shoot cameras, firing a thousand flashes, a sight which the fish must have seen millions of times by now. Despite the fact that the cameras’ lcd screens immediately displayed the mistake of using a flash against a giant glass tank, the tourists plodded on, trying to capture at least something from this expensive stop on their trip.

I moved like a wraith among them, shooting in no-flash mode, but in the tropical tank that anchors the whole aquarium, only the sharks swam slowly enough to be photographed.
