The MBTA now offers Silver Line service from South Station to the airport. It would seem more convenient for those of us who take the Red Line; switching lines once before arriving at one’s departure terminal is a lot more appealing than taking three subway lines and a bus. They’re still working out the kinks, however. My maiden voyage on one of the big silver buses — connected via light rail in an underground tunnel before detatching once above ground — was going smoothly, if a little slowly, on Friday morning. However, as we approached the airport via the turnpike, the driver braked suddenly at a fork between the main road and an exit. “Does anyone know which way to go?” she asked. “It’s my first day.”
